Basel

Squash coach in Basel

Basel sits where Switzerland, France and Germany meet, and it is the flattest city we serve. The Rhine embankments give long, uninterrupted stretches for running and cycling, and the city's cycling infrastructure is the best in the country by some distance. In summer, swimming down the Rhine with your belongings in a dry bag is a genuine local commute, not a tourist stunt.

The pharmaceutical industry gives Basel a large international population working long hours, which shows in what gets booked: early mornings, short efficient sessions, and a lot of English. Say your preferred language when you book.

Squash

Length beats power, always

Club players almost universally hit too hard and too short. An hour on length — putting the ball behind your opponent and returning to the T — beats a season of hitting winners, because winners stop working the moment you play someone competent.

Court and equipment

Court hire is arranged with the session and included. Bring your own racket and eye protection if you have it; goggles are compulsory for juniors at most Swiss clubs and sensible for everyone.

Common questions

Do I need a membership?

No. Court booking is arranged with the session.

I have never played. Is that fine?

Yes. Squash is unusually easy to start and unusually hard to get good at, which is why early coaching pays off.

Can two of us book together?

Yes — choose the two-person session, and expect a lot of conditioned games rather than drills.
