Pilates

Private Pilates lessons around Lake Geneva

Book a private Pilates session with a teacher we arrange for you. Mat work at home, or equipment-based in a studio.

You don't choose a coach. Once your session is booked, we select an appropriate coach and confirm them with you by email.

Mat or equipment

Mat Pilates happens anywhere and needs almost nothing. Reformer and equipment work happens in a studio and costs more, but it is considerably more effective for rehabilitation and for anyone who struggles to feel the right muscles working. Say which you want, or describe your situation and we will advise.

The desk-worker problem

A large share of Pilates bookings here come from people who sit ten hours a day and have finally noticed what it has done to their hips and shoulders. That is exactly what the method was built for, and progress over eight or ten sessions is usually obvious.

Common questions

How is it different from yoga?

Pilates is more structured and more focused on core strength, control and alignment. Yoga generally covers more ground, including breath and stillness. Neither is better; they answer different questions.

I have a back injury. Can I still do it?

Often it is precisely why people start. Tell us the diagnosis in the notes, and if you are in active treatment bring your physiotherapist's guidance so your teacher works within it.

How many sessions before I notice anything?

Most people feel a difference in how they move within four to six sessions. Anyone promising faster than that is selling something.
